Punjab Food Authority Seals Supermarket Sections After Expired Food Found in Lahore

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) conducted a major inspection in Lahore’s Gulberg area and found expired meat, cheese, and bakery products at a well-known supermarket.

Officials confiscated the expired items, sealed the affected sections of the store, imposed heavy fines, and initiated legal action for violations of food safety regulations.

According to authorities, the operation was part of an ongoing province-wide crackdown on food safety violations, aimed at preventing the sale of expired and unsafe food products. The campaign includes inspections of supermarkets, restaurants, bakeries, and other food businesses across Punjab.

While the operation has gained widespread attention, officials have not confirmed that it was triggered by a specific public complaint or application. Available information suggests it was conducted as part of routine inspections and enforcement activities.

Punjab authorities say such actions are necessary to protect public health, improve food quality standards, and ensure businesses comply with food safety laws.
