Major Digital Reform
In a major push toward modern governance and digital transformation, the Punjab government has announced that all government offices across the province will transition to a completely paperless system starting July 1.
According to official details, the initiative is aimed at strengthening e-governance and upgrading the traditional administrative structure on modern, technology-driven lines. Under this reform, all government departments will be integrated into an “e-Filing and Office Automation System”, marking a significant step toward a fully digital public sector.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting held at the Civil Secretariat in Lahore, chaired by the Chief Secretary of Punjab and attended by all provincial secretaries.
Officials have directed that, from the effective date, all field offices will be required to conduct official correspondence and administrative work exclusively through the digital system.
The Chief Secretary highlighted that the paperless shift is expected to significantly reduce expenses on paper, stationery, and printing, while also improving efficiency, speed, and transparency in government operations. The reform is projected to save billions of rupees for the public exchequer.
