Introduction:
Eight Muslim-majority countries Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Malaysia, and Indonesia have jointly condemned Israel’s expansionist policies and settlement activities in the Occupied West Bank. In a coordinated diplomatic communiqué, the countries described these actions as illegal and dangerous, warning that they seriously undermine ongoing peace efforts in the region.
Concerns Over Settlements and International Law:
The joint statement expressed deep concern over the continued construction of Israeli settlements, forced displacement of Palestinian populations, and the expansion of Israeli jurisdiction in occupied Palestinian territories. The countries emphasized that these actions violate international law and contravene multiple United Nations resolutions. They warned that such policies hinder the establishment of a viable and sovereign Palestinian state and contribute to escalating tensions across the Middle East.
The communiqué also noted that unilateral measures taken in occupied territories weaken trust, obstruct dialogue, and exacerbate instability at a time when the region remains highly volatile.
Support for Two-State Solution and Call for Global Action:
Reaffirming their collective commitment to a two-state solution, the eight nations stressed that lasting peace must be based on pre-1967 borders, respect for Palestinian rights, and full compliance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions. They urged the international community to take meaningful and concrete action to halt practices that undermine negotiated peace and international consensus.
This unified stance reflects growing political solidarity among Muslim nations on the Palestinian issue and adds renewed international pressure regarding the situation in the West Bank amid ongoing conflict and contested governance.
